Chess BORED!

Privacy Policy

Last updated 24 September 2026

Chess BORED! is a small hobby project. We collect as little as possible, don't show ads, and never sell your data. This page explains what we store and why.

What we store

  • Account details: your email address and a hashed password, used only to sign you in and to send password reset emails.
  • Profile: your display name, rating, join date and preferences (board theme, sounds and similar settings).
  • Games: the moves, result, clocks and rating changes of the games you play.

What is public

Your display name, rating, record and finished games are public. They appear on the leaderboard, on your profile page and in game replays, and anyone with a link can see them. Your email address and preferences are never shown to anyone else.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage to remember your light or dark theme. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.

Who processes your data

Accounts and game data are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider. The chess engine runs in your own browser, so your games against the computer are only sent to us when they finish and are saved to your history.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. This permanently removes your email, profile and rating. Games you played remain in your opponents' history, shown as "Deleted player".
